"Film Trivia is fun, pure and simple"

Did you know that Don Coscarelli, creator of Phantasm, can actually speak Arabic? Or how about Matt Damon's date when he won the Academy Award for writing Goodwill Hunting? Do you know who's voice is on the CB radio talking to Captain Quint in Jaws? Do you know what a young actress from Massachusetts once said to Tom Cruise about his pants when he was filming Knight and Day?

There's no doubt about it, we all love trivia. And if you're a movie lover, as I am, then film trivia's even better! The question begs as to why we love it so much. Maybe it's the stars, or big budget motion pictures, or the sheer excitement of just going to the movies. Who really knows for sure? What is known is that film lovers (like us...) love movie trivia, and that's all there is to it.

The word trivia is derived from the word trivial, which leads us to believe that trivia describes information that is not all that important. While this may be true it doesn't seem to deter folks from enjoying movie trivia all the more. There's just something fascinating in learning more about our favorite film actors, film directors, producers and filmmaking situations.

Movie trivia actually encompasses many subtopics. For instance, there's Academy Awards, Disney Films, Horror Movies, James Bond Films, as well as cult movies like Lord of the Rings as well as Star Wars. Pretty much any Film Genre or movie making activity can be the inspiration for trivia.

Trivia can also be based on slightly harder to find information. Topics such as Movie Quotes, Factoids, Hidden Jokes or Messages (also referred to as "Easter Eggs"), Tidbits, Gossip and Cameo Appearances. Another interesting topic would be Movie Mistakes, or what are called "Continuity Errors."
